A 25-yard pool (common in the US) is 22.86 m long, so the same number of lengths is 8.6% shorter than in a 25 m pool. Swim times in yards and meters aren’t directly comparable.
Common mistakes
Assuming 1 m ≈ 1 yd for fabric. On a 5-meter cut, you’d be buying almost half a yard less than you need (5 m = 5.47 yd).
Mixing yards with feet. A yard is 3 feet; 1 m = 3.28 ft.
For the reverse, use yards to meters.
