Who we are
TidyUnits (tidyunits.com) is an independent website run by an individual developer (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, including a request to access or delete data, use the contact form. We reply from a personal email address and use your message only to answer it.
The short version
- There are no accounts, and we never ask for personal details to use the converters.
- Your inputs (the numbers and units you convert) are processed in your browser. They are not sent to us.
- We store one preference in your browser: your light or dark theme choice.
- Advertising is provided by Google AdSense, which may use cookies. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, ads only use cookies or personal data for personalization after you consent.
- We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
- If you write to us through the contact form, we receive what you send.
Information we collect
Conversions and calculations. Everything you type into a converter or calculator is processed in your browser. Settings you change (such as the value, units or DPI) are written into the page address so you can share a link. That address is only sent to our host when you open or share the link.
Browser storage. If you choose a light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key theme. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Hosting and security logs. The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Contact form. If you send a message, we receive your name, email address, the topic, the page address if you add one, and your message. It is delivered to our email inbox by Cloudflare (Email Routing) and used only to reply to you and to fix any issue you report. We delete messages when they are no longer needed, and in any case within 12 months.
Spam protection on the contact form. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending it. Turnstile runs only on the contact page and processes technical signals from your browser (such as IP address and browser characteristics) for that check. It does not use advertising cookies. Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are useful and how fast they load. It records the page you visited, the referring page, your browser and device type, your approximate country, and page-speed measurements. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not track you across other websites, and does not fingerprint your device; Cloudflare derives the country from your IP address without storing the address for analytics. We see only aggregated totals, never individual visitors. See Cloudflare’s Web Analytics privacy information and privacy policy.
Advertising
TidyUnits is funded by ads served by Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited in the EEA and UK; Google LLC elsewhere).
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits.
- Google and its partners may also use cookies and similar technologies to limit how often you see an ad, measure performance and prevent fraud.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: a consent message from Google’s certified consent management platform asks for your choice before any cookies are used for personalized ads. Until you choose, Google Consent Mode keeps advertising storage and personalization switched off.
- US states with privacy laws (including California): you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
- You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at My Ad Center, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

How long data is kept
Theme preferences stay in your browser until you clear them. Contact messages are deleted within 12 months. Hosting logs and aggregated analytics are kept by Cloudflare according to its own retention policy. Advertising data is governed by Google’s policies.
Your rights
EEA and UK residents have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of their personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Residents of US states with privacy laws (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others) may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money.

Children
TidyUnits is a general reference site, not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International transfers
Our hosting and advertising providers may process data in the United States and other countries. They rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date at the top of the page.
