How it works
First combine to total inches: 5 feet × 12 = 60, plus 7 gives 67 inches. Then multiply by 2.54. Converting feet and inches separately and adding the results gives the same answer, but it’s easier to slip.
Common mistakes
Treating 5.7 feet as 5 feet 7 inches. 5.7 ft is 5 feet 8.4 inches. Decimal feet aren’t feet and inches.
Multiplying feet by 30. A foot is 30.48 cm. The 0.48 adds up to about 3 cm on an adult height.
For the reverse, use cm to feet and inches.
