Volume from dimensions
Multiply length × width × height in feet for cubic feet. A 10 × 12 ft room with an 8 ft ceiling is 960 ft³, which is 27.18 m³.
Common mistakes
Converting with the length factor. Cubic units convert with the cube: 0.3048³ = 0.0283168, not 0.3048.
Mixing cubic feet with board feet. Lumber uses board feet (144 cubic inches), a different unit.
For bigger volumes such as concrete or soil, see cubic yards to cubic meters.
