Baking by weight
Weighing flour and sugar is more accurate than cups. If a recipe gives grams and your scale shows ounces, divide by 28.35. For converting cups directly, try cups to grams.
Common mistakes
Mixing up fluid ounces and ounces. A recipe listing 8 oz of milk usually means 8 fl oz (a cup), not 8 oz by weight.
Using troy ounces for groceries. Gold, silver and platinum prices use troy ounces (31.1035 g).
For the reverse, use ounces to grams.
